Overview

The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) is health information specific legislation that governs how personal health information is collected, used, and disclosed. As per Section 91 of PHIA, a review is required once every 5 years.

This is the second review of PHIA. The province has appointed INQ Consulting and INQ Law to assist the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to complete the PHIA statutory review. A statutory review committee has been established with representatives from INQ Consulting and INQ Law and officials from the Department of Health and Community Services.
